Suede:
Protection:
- Spray with a suede protector (water & stain repellent) before first use and reapply every few weeks.
Cleaning:
- Use a suede brush (with soft brass or rubber bristles) to lift the nap and remove dirt.
- Brush in one direction for light cleaning; in circles for deeper dirt.
- For stains, use a suede eraser (or a clean pencil eraser) to rub gently.
- For oil or grease spots, sprinkle a small amount of cornstarch onto the affected area. Let it sit overnight to absorb the residue, then brush it off gently.
Avoid:
- Do not submerge in water or heavy rain.
- Do not use a radiator or hairdryer.
- Do not machine wash or tumble dry.
Nubuck:
Protect:
- Apply a nubuck protector spray to guard against moisture and stains.
Cleaning:
- Use a nubuck brush or cloth (slightly softer than suede brushes) to keep the velvety surface even.
Avoid:
- Do not soak nubuck. Moisture can stain or harden the surface.
- If sneakers get wet, stuff them with paper (not newspaper) to keep their shape and let them air dry naturally, away from heat.
- Do not machine wash or tumble dry.
