About The Mercer Brand

I started The Mercer Brand out of Amsterdam in 2013 from a passion for footwear and sustainability. The name is derived from Mercer Street in New York City where I bought my first pair of sneakers at age 10. Currently based in Amsterdam, my mission is simple: to create sustainable products with an American vintage look & feel. We used to have the slogan “it’s not all socks and sandals” - indicating that sustainable products are not just for a certain cliché niche market but can also be aesthetically pleasing for a broader market.

I focus on creating distinct silhouettes, fully designed in-house from sole to lace, thus adding a unique look and feel. I focus on sustainability by using materials that are Global Recycled Standard certified, PETA certified vegan, Piñatex, and Leather Working Group certified. It was already 6 years ago that I created the first fully sustainable vegan sneaker made from pineapple, and later following that up with footwear made from grapes, apples, and mesh from plastic recovered from the ocean, showcasing my commitment to environmental responsibility in every product I create.

I am especially proud of the collaborations we have done in the past together with NASA, University Of California (UCLA), Beverly Hills Hotel, Loro Piana and ‘47 Brand. Have fun scrolling these pages and come visit us in our Clubhouse to talk product or sustainability, or both. - Pim Dresen, Founder.
