Care Guide: How to Care for Your Mercer Brand Puffer Vest and Jacket

Here’s how to care for your Mercer Bodywarmer:

Washing:

  • Always wash inside out to protect the outer fabric and maintain its water-repellent finish.
  • Wash with similar colors to avoid color transfer.
  • Choose a gentle cycle at 30 degrees — this is warm enough to clean effectively, but cool enough to preserve both the recycled nylon lining and the SORONA® filling.
  • Avoid bleach, fabric softeners, or harsh detergents, as these can break down the eco-friendly fibers and coating.

Drying:

  • Do not tumble dry. Heat and mechanical friction can damage the insulation and cause the outer fabric to lose its protective finish.
  • Instead, air dry the bodywarmer by laying it flat on a clean towel or hanging it in a well-ventilated area away from direct sunlight or heat sources. This helps maintain the shape and ensures even drying.
  • Gently shake or pat the garment once dry to redistribute the filling if needed.

Finishing Touches:

  • To remove light wrinkles or refresh the shape, use a steamer on low heat. Steaming also helps maintain the soft look of the fabric.
  • Avoid direct ironing, especially on high heat, as this may damage the recycled nylon shell and water-repellent finish.
  • Store your bodywarmer on a wide, padded hanger or folded neatly in a cool, dry space to preserve its silhouette.

Long-Term Care Tips:

  • Spot clean small marks with a damp cloth to reduce the need for frequent washing.
  • Reapply a water-repellent spray occasionally to maintain its protective qualities.
  • Avoid prolonged compression (like leaving it under heavy items) to keep the insulation fluffy and effective.
