The Vision Behind the Collection
When asked about the inspiration driving this season, Pim explains that his focus isn’t on fleeting seasonal themes, but rather on strengthening the brand’s foundations.
“As opposed to giving a collection a seasonal theme I am trying to give each collection the main pillars of the brand: high-end American sportswear and sustainability. This means all of our pieces are inspired by a sport of some sort but executed in premium materials which could mean an organic cotton, a highly innovative plant-based material such as Desserto or a premium suede leather.”
The Feeling Behind Fall/Winter 2025
There’s a sense of ease woven into every Mercer piece, that effortless, lived-in feeling that defines the brand’s DNA. When asked what emotion he hopes people take away from the collection, Pim doesn’t hesitate:
“The feeling of waking up on a Saturday, with no stress, putting on your favorite sweatpants or vintage jeans, starting up the vintage Porsche and taking the dog for a coffee walk.”
That mood, refined yet relaxed, sets the tone for the season.
On Materials and Innovation
While many brands look to reinvent their material library each season, Mercer’s approach is about deepening what already works.
“Rather than introducing new materials, this season is focusing on expanding on our two best selling styles made from pineapple and made from cactus. These two are a highly sustainable alternative for leather featuring a high percentage of plant-based ingredients combined with recycled polyester to make a very durable and great looking shoe.”
The Defining Pieces of Fall/Winter 2025
When asked which pieces stand out most this season, Pim highlights a curated selection that embodies Mercer’s blend of craftsmanship and ease:
-
The Re-Run Cactus – a great sportswear-inspired shoe with an amazing sustainability story.
-
The Subway Jacket in Camo – organic waxed cotton for water-repellent features in a camo print with a chic ribbed collar. It doesn’t get more high-end sportswear than this.
-
The Re-Run Vintage Suede Navy – a sports-inspired silhouette executed in premium (GRS certified) suede for that real mix between high-end and sportswear.
-
The Mercer Dog Cap – a classic washed cotton unstructured cap for that effortless look, printed with the signature Mercer dog to reflect the brand’s lifestyle.
-
The Mercer Wool Full-Zip in Navy – nothing screams American Dad more than this full-zip. Soft, cozy, and versatile enough to pair with any trousers or shorts.
And finally, one of Pim’s personal favorites:
“I actually also really love the Re-Run Max Track & Field. The classic color mix of silver, gold, off-white, white and navy really works well on this shoe and reminds a bit of a shoe your favorite athlete used to wear in any 80s Olympics.”
On Timelessness and Community
At the heart of Mercer’s longevity lies its commitment to community. Pim designs with his audience in mind, not the runway calendar.
“My goal is to keep our community in mind for everything I design. If I don’t envision them wearing it, I will not produce it. This further falls in line with my main goal of sticking with our original brand story from now until the end of time. We do not want to be ‘trend,’ we want to be us.”
That philosophy, designing for people, not hype, is what makes Mercer’s pieces timeless rather than seasonal.
"High-end, American sportswear, sustainability."
Defining ‘Comfort Meets Effortless Style’.
“You always want to look great of course, but you do not want to look like you spend hours in front of the mirror, this is where the effortless style comes in, combining a heavy-weight t-shirt with our full-zip ensures you look great without trying too hard. And of course I personally will not wear anything if it is not comfortable, so that’s usually where all our designs begin, the insoles, shape, and linings of every shoe have to be the best of the best to give the wearer the most comfortable feeling.”
Looking Ahead
As we close the conversation, Pim reflects on what excites him most about seeing people wear the collection:
“To see how they combine it with their personal style. This also inspires me in turn for future collections because sometimes I thought of a design in a certain way, but it will be styled in another way, and this is always fun to see!”
